Not as bad as I thought..

When I purchased The NET & "Net 2.0" DVD-box I tought that I'm buying one mediocre movie (1), and one sh*tty movie: "2.0". But thanks to heavens that also "2.0" was better than advertised.

After watching the movie, it was quite entertaining. Nice acting and nice scenery, Of course the theme of the movie was little bit repeating from the original "The Net", but then again.. its permitted, it's "2.0".. and you cant make sequel without repeating the theme of identify theft on sequel, can you? In the end, I Think that this movie is slightly better than first one (not lots of, but barely, see it yourself). Because it's more fresher than 1995 movie.

6/10, don't judge the book by it's covers.

The Winklers have it.

I am not a whiner or complainer, but this movie creates a massive negative pressure. The Net 2.0 was released on DVD on Tuesday, I watched it on Wednesday and there is only one other comment on IMDb as I write this. I suppose it is safe to say that this production went directly to video and skipped the movie houses. Also it did not spark a lot of interest in the constituency of IMDb. I know why.

Irwin Winkler is the producer of this movie and his son, Charles Winkler, is the director. Papa Winkler has produced such movies as "They Shoot Horses Don't They", the Rocky movies, "The Net", "The Juror", "Goodfellas", and "De-Lovely". He was the director of the original "The Net". Charles on the other hand has directed several TV movies, a Baywatch Episode, and a few movies that I have never heard of. This is a major example as to why nepotism can be costly.

As far as I can tell the Winkler connection is the only connection of "The Net" to its purported sequel. There is no comparing them. Indeed a woman looses her identity in both movies but storyline and execution make them two entirely different items.

The story is not real credible and the way it unfolds is herky-jerky there are many points at which the viewer is invited to yawn. The story could have worked if it was done differently. This was shot in Turkey and had many Turkish actors. I thought they actually added more spice than the American cast. Sebnem Dönmez, the Interpol agent, and Güven Kirac, who played Osman, were fresh faces and were enjoyable.

I really think this could have been improved with a better presentation, I would recommend that you watch this on a very slow day when you have nothing else to do.

woman become victim of cyber identity theft and tries to get her life back

The Net 2.0 is an above average movie for its genre. It is basically the story of a woman who has her identity along with her life stolen,as if she never existed.she must then try to get it back.this movie is not a sequel to the original.in fact it has none of the characters from that movie.nevertheless,it is suspenseful, riveting and action packed.there are of course a few plot twists, some predictable, others not.the acting is more than decent, especially from Nikki Deloach(TV's North Shore) as Hope Cassidy, the main character. She is very credible as a woman who has lost everything.the supporting cast are also strong.the direction is a bit suspect at times,as the director utilizes many jump shots throughout.A jump shot is essentially a type of camera trick.this is used to make the action flashier for the audience. However,it has been done so much before that audiences are mot impressed.minor quibble aside, however,Net 2.0 is overall a well done, entertaining and fun movie.well worth your 90 minutes. 7/10
