3/10 This document is well made and edited; the production values are high, and the footage and sound are of very good quality. Dianne Whelan is not a particularly interesting or insightful person, nor are any of the people she meets along her journey. Which would be fine if the film were eventful, but it isn't. Perhaps the most exciting thing is the bear encounter, which is pretty standard for Canadians who spend time outdoors. We all have a bear story. It is a slow documentary, which perhaps older audiences may enjoy; however, I personally didn't. The description for this film is actually wrong. It is not a solo journey; she almost always has a companion with her plus a support crew. This is not a "survivor man" type of situation; it's more of a wilderness vacation or hiking documentary paid for with Canadian taxpayer funds in the form of "grants.".
