A phenomenal documentary

A riveting story, beautifully told. Important, but also emotional and beautiful. A must-watch!

Candid, Personal and Powerful

Shawn Kelley's My Father's Brothers is a straight-forward and exceeding through document of a single battle in Vietnam. No stone is left unturned. Beginning with the logistical perspective, detailing the bad decisions and unique circumstances leading up to the battle. Following up with an intense moment by moment account of everything that happened during the lengthy encounter. Moving on to the trauma experienced by all who participated and the process of recovering and even reconciling with other combatants.

All of this is told by ten men who where there and in many ways have never truly left Vietnam.

The movie is really a son's effort to understand a great father who was in some ways a bit out of reach. This perspective makes it very accessible to both military and history enthusiasts as well as regular viewers looking for an amazing story that is well told.

A rare documentary that answered just about every question it raised. Very satisfying and expertly made with excellent pacing. A story that I wasn't looking for, but one that hasn't left me. There many excellent Vietnam Documentaries, but few are as well contained as My Father's Brothers. A complete arc in this fantastic movie.

Vietnam Story Rarely Told By Vets

As the daughter of a 38 year Naval Officer who was drafted with the last draft in Vietnam and the wife a 10 year Army Veteran, this is an important story to tell this generation and future generations. Shawn Kelley gave these men a place to share to their life and allow for some recognition, since this was not allowed when they arrived home. Their lives and their stories are honest, true, emotional and loving. So many stories from the Vietnam War are silent. Thank you for sharing your gift and their lives with us!
